GOAL

The challenge facing RGS Vacuum Systems was to develop a solution for handling Pearlstick™ balls and delivering them directly into the process reactor via a closed circuit that eliminated operator exposure to solvent vapours and also limited the quantities processed by the cooling systems.

BENEFITS

• By using the pneumatic conveying system, an increase in reactor productivity was achieved thanks to the mass flow rate of material achieved by the installed system (2000 kg/h).
• Considerable reduction in solvent vapour emissions from the reactor.
• Elimination of exposure between operators and dissolution reactor.
• General increase in the safety level of the production plant also thanks to the adoption of ATEX compliant devices according to 2014/34/EU.
• Increased flexibility in the use of the production plant.
