Diversification and the development of new products and technologies increasingly require a flexible approach to production while maintaining a cost structure similar to that of mass production.
In this case, RGS Vacuum Systems was involved in a production department for thermoplastic polyurethane adhesives (TPUs) at one of Italy’s most established companies. These Adhesives are prepared by dissolving polyurethane polymers in suitable solvent mixtures in reactors at room temperature and pressure.
The challenge facing RGS Vacuum Systems was to develop a solution for handling Pearlstick™ balls and delivering them directly into the process reactor via a closed circuit that eliminated operator exposure to solvent vapours and also limited the quantities processed by the cooling systems.
CONCLUSIONS
Pneumatic conveying systems continue to prove highly effective wherever production flexibility and a high level of process automation are required. The use of special construction geometries and experience in GMP manufacturing allow us to minimise downtime for cleaning or product changeovers while maintaining a high conveying capacity.
Particularly in the chemical sector, our conveyors or centralised or distributed pneumatic conveying systems can significantly improve product loading operations by relieving workers of physical tasks, removing possible harmful vapours and adding a level of automation, all to the benefit of safety and productivity.
